About Us
St. Basil is a small rural parish south of Lafayette in the heart of Acadiana known as Cajun Country. The disciples in this Church community look a lot like farmers, oilfield workers, plumbers, electricians, finance personnel, medical personnel, first responders, retired, bricklayers, carpenters, welders, teachers, white collar, and blue collar workers. Besides sharing the food of the Eucharist, the Lord’s Body and Blood, they gather at the tables of their homes enjoying the Cajun staples of crawfish, fresh Gulf seafood, jambalaya, gumbo, etouffee, boudin, and whatever other home recipes they have kept through the generations to share together as a family. There is a wonderful spirit of informality about this community, but don’t be fooled. Their faith is deep and you are invited to enter into God’s presence here in Judice at St. Basil. You will also learn in not too long a time that they have three ways of pronouncing the name of St Basil.
