News & Events
Palm Sunday: April 5th is Palm Sunday. Blessed Palms will be available for drive thru pickup from 8:00AM – 11:00AM that day. Some have been ordered, but if you usually cut and bring some, that still can be done by dropping them off in front of the Hall by Saturday at 4:00PM to be distributed Sunday as well. No need to clean them this year. Please post this on your social media account to spread the word. Church Unlocked for Private Prayer: St. Basil Church will be unlocked on Tuesdays and Fridays from 7:00AM – 6:00PM for private prayer which will include Good Friday, beginning March 31st. Please do not set up group rosaries at this time even for very small groups as others who come may want to pray quietly. Pray the rosary quietly on your own. The reason for two days only is to reduce the risk of spreading the virus given the time it can exist on hard surfaces. If anyone comes who is unknowingly infected, this will give the virus time to die off.
St. Basil Judice Neighborhood Rosary in the Church parking lot will be prayed each Wednesday and Thursday, beginning April 1st, at 10:00AM during the duration of public Masses being prohibited. Remain in your car and the rosary will be lead over a portable sound system. Certain weather may prevent it from happening such as heavy thunderstorms. Weekend/Weekday Masses and all other parish meetings are discontinued until April 13th. CCD registration form is now available under Quick Links on our website Home Page. Please download, print, and fill out manually. Dear St. Basil Community, Until the Bishop allows public Masses, I am saying Mass in private, fulfilling all Mass intentions and praying for the safety and health of all and for the protection of a vaccine. It is with a very heavy heart that I have to inform you of the death of Darleen Benoit, the parish secretary. She died on Monday, March 16, 2020, from complications of her cancer which she has been fighting for years. A private service was done with immediate family on Wednesday, March 18th, and burial took place in St. Basil cemetery. Once we can do public Masses, a memorial Mass will be scheduled for all to come and pray with her family for this beautiful soul. May she now rest in God’s eternal peace and please keep her family in your prayers as they grieve her death. The part time secretary position will be opened for application. This position being part time (16 hours) has no benefits. Without a secretary, contacting the office may be a little delayed. If the phone is not answered please leave your message on voicemail and it will be returned ASAP. You may also contact the office by email at [email protected]. Though information may not change much, please check the parish website as important updates may come on occasion. Please feel free to email the parish with any questions you may have. If you are on social media, posting the above information would be helpful. With prayers for everyone’s safety and health, Fr. Steve |
